TIPS AND TRICKS FOR NEW BUSINESS OWNERS
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
There are some easy tips and tricks when starting your business and creating a digital presence:
Do these things:
Find out who you are going to be serving. Does this population have children? Do they work a lot of hours? What is their age group? What generation do they belong to? Where do they spend their time online? Here is a great resource to get these questions answered.
Social Media time… Which social media channel is best for you and your business/organization? Sometimes, we become fixated on the idea that in order to have a successful media presence, we have to be on every social media channel. Makes sense, right? This thought process can actually be harmful and reduce your chance of building the digital experience you desire! Once you have found out where your target population spends their time, focus on one or two top social media channels. This can be more effective in the long run.
Research & Planning: Understanding how people use websites and social media is crucial to running your account correctly. Take some time to understand how your business/organization fits into the primary functions of each social media channel. Understand which colors represent your brand, how your tone and voice will be presented, and what kinds of content your followers will want to see! Don’t do these things:
Overwhelm yourself: There are so many things to consider and complete when working on your business/organization. Take some time to carefully think through each step, remaining organized and intentional with the choices you make. You are on your way to success!
Suffer in silence: Technology, the internet and social media are all fairly new and can be confusing. When in doubt, ask for help! There are wonderful resources and experts available to help you… like me! A quick Google search can sometimes be your best friend for fixing quick problems.
Give up: You are beginning a new journey! Though it may be a confusing ride filled with daunting tasks, it will be worth it once your project is complete. You have worked diligently on your product, service or hobby… allow your passion to shine!
